ST. LOUIS, July 7, 2017— Inspired by “Reigning Men: Fashion in Menswear, 1715-2015,” the Saint Louis Art Museum’s summer fundraising event, SLAM Vogue, will benefit the museum and feature a vibrant evening of creative fashion interventions, themed cocktails and cuisine, and music. Tickets are still available. The evening’s highlight will be Fluid Fashion 18, a dynamic runway fashion show conceived by fashion icon André Leon Talley.
Working in collaboration with the Saint Louis Fashion Incubator, Talley’s selections for the show are from the Incubator’s collection of designs created by the program’s six emerging designers that reflect the ensembles in “Reigning Men.” Talley will appear at the event in support of the Incubator and these designers.
Talley gained fame as a judge on “America’s Top Model” and as an advisor to former First Lady Michelle Obama. He is known for his physical stature and his personal style trademark—the cape—and is the author of three books including the art and photography title, “A.L.T: A Memoir.”
“SLAM Vogue will be a fantastic way to celebrate fashion and creativity in St. Louis while benefitting the Art Museum’s many public programs,” said Brent R. Benjamin, the Barbara B. Taylor Director of the Saint Louis Art Museum. “We look forward to welcoming André back to St. Louis for this fundraising event and helping create this special moment for our supporters.”
SLAM Vogue will take place at 8 pm on Saturday, July 15 at the Saint Louis Art Museum. Tickets start at $150 and are available online at slam.org/slamvogue. The presenting sponsor for SLAM Vogue is the Centene Charitable Foundation.
