Media alert: ‘Vote Your Art’ balloting underway

vote-your-artST. LOUIS, Nov. 3—Polls are open at the Saint Louis Art Museum as visitors cast their ballots for their favorite work as part of Vote Your Art, a five-way contest between candidates from the American, Native American, ancient American, and decorative arts collections.

Informed voters can view the nominees in our galleries or online, study the position statements, and cast a vote online or in person through 5 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 8. The winner will be announced Wednesday, Nov. 9.

The candidates include The County Election, by Missourian George Caleb Bingham; a 19th-century silver teapot designed by Peter Bentzon; Nepcetaq Mask, made by a Yup’ik artist from southcentral Alaska; The Plaza after the Rain, by St. Louis native Paul Cornoyer; and Vessel in the Form of a Head, a Mississippian vessel with links to Cahokia.
